024 AVS Rebuild - Part IV
Chainsaws, Stihl 024AVS Rebuild Comments (0)
Damn, has it been nearly a month already? I have got to get more ‘regular’ with this blogging stuff. It’s been a month of craziness here in the Midwest. The Stihl 024 Chain Saw Rebuild Project is coming along very nicely. I’ve got most of it reassembled with the exception of the cylinder and piston. I’m waiting on a cylinder gasket to finish things up. I can’t believe I’ve come all this way only to have the whole project held up by a little $2.00 (or less) item.
So far, the money I’ve got invested is still less than 100 bucks. And I’ll have a nice little ‘backup saw’.
Since I’m not really highligting or demonstrating anything about the rebuild, I’ll talk a bit about how I have gone about collecting parts. Here we go. One word. Ebay! It’s as simple as that. There are a lot of good folks out there doing good business and if you like having a readily available supply of Stihl Chain Saw parts (or any other chain saw parts)to choose from, you should really consider supporting these folks. The selection is expansive and readily available.
Here are my tips for not getting screwed over on an Ebay auction.
- Stick with the stores. (Most of these guys have a reputation to protect and understand the importance of good service.
- Be mindful of the feedback score. For me, anything under 98% is a ‘no-no’.
- Be mindful of the number of transactions they have conducted as well. 1 good transaction out of 1 transactions will give you 100%, right? You can find it by clicking on their store link in an auction.
I’ve stuck with these 3 rules for most of my Stihl Chain Saw Parts shopping and it’s never failed me. Best of luck.
If you have a project you’re working on, I sure would like to hear about it. Drop me a line.
